Patient Eligibility and Referral Form
Patients interested in rTMS therapy must be referred to Riverview Medical Services Inc. by their psychiatrist/family physician or a health care professional.
Patients with any type of implanted ferromagnetic metal in their heads (with the exception of braces or dental fillings) or within 30 centimeters of the rTMS magnetic coil should not receive rTMS. The following is a list of metal implants that prevent a patient from receiving rTMS:
Cardiac Pacemakers
Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD)
Cochlear Implants
Aneurysm Clips or coils
Metal plates or stents in the head or neck
Metal in eyes or ears
Facial/neck tattoos with metallic or magnetic-sensitive ink.
Other medical conditions that may preclude the patient from receiving rTMS therapy include:
Serious head injury within that past year
History of seizures
